WebbSharkBite brass push-to-connect uses an advanced push-to-connect design that works in two stages. When the pipe is inserted into the fitting, it first passes through a release collar and then through a stainless steel grab ring. The grab ring has “teeth” that open out and grip onto the pipe. WebbSharkbite fittings wont connect to copper pipe. We are remodeling our bathroom in our 1960s home. We cut off the old valves to the bathtub, and were planning on fitting sharkbite connectors on to switch over to CPVC. The hot water pipe worked fine, however the sharkbite won't fit on the pipe. Here is a picture of the pipe as well.
