I fly a LOT for work and I carry a pretty powerful flashlight regularly in my carry on bag... also high calorie food bars, a compass, a filter straw, about 30' of paracord wrapped around a rain poncho, extra toilet paper and a small (but well stocked) first aid kit. I really wish I could have a knife of some sort.
