In 1869, upon graduation from the Realgymnasium, he joined the Prussian army engineers and saw action in the Franco-Prussian War. Built on the foothills of the Italian Alps, the brewery has been passed down generations and to this day is still owned by the founder’s great-great-great-grandson– a true distinction.
